Virgin Voyages vs Royal Caribbean (2026): Who Should Book Which
Current as of September 13, 2026 · By Cameron DeJong · CamJon Travel
Who should book which?
Book Royal Caribbean if kids or teens are in the cabin (Adventure Ocean is official for ages 3 to 17), you want Icon/Oasis-scale water parks and Broadway-size shows, or the lowest headline fare matters more than what is already in the ticket.
Book Virgin Voyages if every Sailor is 18+ (official minimum; no exceptions), you want 20+ restaurants in the fare with no buffet and no cover, and you would rather size a Bar Tab than buy an unlimited package. Four Lady ships. Smaller, adults-only, same bones on every hull.
They are not the same vacation. CamJon Travel will price both live quotes. We will not invent a couple invoice.
What’s included (Yes / No)
Names, not invented daily dollars. Royal drink packages exist. Official Royal beverage pages we checked do not print a package rate per day.

Drinks, Wi-Fi, and gratuities
Virgin Voyages does not have an unlimited drinks package. Essential drinks are in the fare. Premium drinks use a Bar Tab. Size it with the Bar Tab explainer. Royal sells named packages. We are not going to publish a $55, $70, or $110 “typical Deluxe” line. Those dollars go stale and are not on Royal’s official beverage page.
Wi-Fi on Virgin is in the fare at the VoyageFair tier. Premium fare is Premium Wi-Fi (two devices per Sailor). Mega RockStar is Work from Sea (two devices per Sailor). That is not the same product. Do not rename Premium Wi-Fi to Work from Sea. Dining windows: Base and Lock It In 15, Essential 45, Premium 60, RockStar and Mega 120. Matrix: VoyageFair fare types.
Neither line includes daily service gratuities in the fare. Virgin: about $20 prepaid or about $22 onboard from October 7, 2025. Once that line is covered, no extra tip is expected on drinks, dining, or spa. Royal (official FAQ): $18.50 non-suite or $21 suite per guest per day, plus 18% on beverages and packages and 20% on spa. More on the Virgin side: tipping after VoyageFair.
