Do You Tip on Virgin Voyages? Gratuities After October 7, 2025

Short answer: Virgin Voyages does not expect extra tips on drinks, dining, or spa once the daily service gratuity is covered. On bookings made from October 7, 2025, that gratuity is a separate service-gratuity line: about $20 per Sailor per night if you prepay (locked and non-refundable), or about $22 if it posts onboard (you can review it at Sailor Services before you get off). Bookings made before October 7, 2025 may still have gratuities in the fare; changing the sail date can end that. Port porters at Terminal V and similar docks are not Virgin Voyages crew; $1 to $2 per bag is standard.

Do you tip on Virgin Voyages?

No extra tip is expected on drinks, dining, or spa once the daily service gratuity is covered. That is official Virgin Voyages policy, and it is CamJon Travel house voice. The policy did not become “now you tip.” It became “the service-gratuity line is visible.”

How much are Virgin Voyages gratuities?

On bookings made from October 7, 2025, plan on about $20 per Sailor per night if you prepay, or about $22 per Sailor per night if it posts onboard. The published rate is the same from an Insider to a Mega RockStar suite.

Prepaid gratuities are locked and non-refundable per Virgin Voyages. If you pay onboard, you can review or modify the amount at Sailor Services before disembarkation. That is why CamJon Travel pre-selects the prepaid path on new bookings: it is about $2 less per Sailor per night, and it is settled before you sail.

Example math, not a sailing quote: two Sailors on a 5-night voyage is $20 x 2 x 5 = $200 prepaid, or $22 x 2 x 5 = $220 onboard. Do not treat those totals as your quote. Confirm the nights and Sailor count on the booking.

What if I booked before October 7, 2025?

Bookings made before October 7, 2025 may still have gratuities in the fare. That legacy path can end if you change the sail date. Ask CamJon Travel before you touch a pre-October booking. Do not assume a date change keeps the old bundle.

Do I need cash onboard?

Not for drinks, dining, or spa. Once the daily service gratuity is covered, no additional tipping is expected. Do not bring a stack of ones for the bartender. Virgin Voyages does not add a per-order gratuity surcharge on drinks, dining, or spa.

Port porters are not crew. At Terminal V and similar docks, $1 to $2 per bag for the port porter is standard port-side practice. It is not extra onboard tipping, and it is not part of the daily service gratuity. Keep it on embarkation day. Independent shore operators follow their own customs; do not invent those amounts here.

Why did the line item appear?

On October 7, 2025, Virgin Voyages unbundled daily service gratuities so they show as a separate line item. Official press frames this as transparency: the total cost of a voyage does not change, and you now see the gratuity on its own line. Prepay about $20 per Sailor per night, or settle about $22 onboard. It is not a hidden new fee, and it is not a reason to start tipping on top.

This is why Virgin Voyages is still inclusive-value cruising, not a resort all-inclusive. Dining and essential drinks stay in the fare. The nightly crew line is now visible. Full inclusions: Is Virgin Voyages all inclusive? Fare windows and Wi-Fi by type: Virgin Voyages fare types.
