The Florida Resident Rate (and Who Else Qualifies)

Virgin quietly runs geographic discounts for Sailors who live near its homeports, and Florida is the flagship: 5%, 10%, or 15% off the voyage fare on eligible sailings, depending on the sailing and current demand. At booking, the discount is applied with the access key FLRATE, and you’ll show proof of residency (driver’s license or a utility bill) at the terminal.

A few fine-print items worth knowing:

Eligible cabins are mid-range on purpose. The rate applies to Insider, Social Insider, Sea View, and most Sea Terrace categories — not RockStar suites.

Florida isn’t the only club. Virgin has expanded resident rates to Georgia, Puerto Rico, the Northeast U.S., Canada, Mexico, and West Coast states like California, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington — that last group matters now that Virgin sails from Los Angeles and Seattle.

Two nuances trip people up. First, onboard beats post-voyage: after you disembark, Virgin emails a 14-day window to place the same $150 deposit — but the post-voyage version drops the fare discount, keeping only the Loot. If you’re even 50% sure you’ll sail again, buy it onboard. Second, you can only apply one MNVV per booking, so couples holding one each should think about splitting them across two future trips.
