Unlock Maximum Savings: Your Expert Guide to the Virgin Voyages My Next Virgin Voyage (MNVV) Program

Updated August 7, 2026: Virgin Voyages has changed the MNVV program. Placeholders purchased on or after August 6, 2026 can no longer have the name changed, and this fall the two-year sail deadline is being replaced with a one-year window to convert. The strategy on this page still holds, but read our full breakdown of the changes first, including why your fare type now matters more than it used to.

Just stepped off a Virgin Voyages ship? Still buzzing from the adults-only atmosphere, the Michelin-star-worthy dining, the late-night parties, and that one-of-a-kind feeling of freedom only Virgin delivers? You are probably already daydreaming about your next sailing. Before you get swept up in planning, there is one thing worth hundreds of dollars that you need to know.

Many Sailors, riding the post-voyage glow, quietly miss out on the single best deal for their next Virgin Voyages adventure simply because they wait until they get home. The key to maximum value is the Virgin Voyages My Next Virgin Voyage (MNVV) program, specifically the exclusive offer you can only lock in while you are still onboard.

As Gold Tier First Mates (Virgin Voyages’ term for certified travel advisors), we at CamJon Travel live and breathe Virgin Voyages. This guide breaks down exactly how the MNVV works, why the onboard offer beats every alternative, how the placeholder system works, the eligibility rules that trip people up, and the smart strategy of buying multiple placeholders. And because we would rather be useful than just sell you something, we are also going to do what most MNVV guides will not: show you the one place this program can quietly cost you money if it is not managed well after you book, what we call the re-rate trap, so you can use the MNVV with your eyes wide open.

The 30-Second Version

Buy your MNVV onboard (not after you get home) for a $150 deposit. It locks in a fare discount and matching Sailor Loot worth up to $500 total, currently holds for two years (changing to a one-year window to convert in fall 2026), and stacks with most promotions. The catch nobody mentions: once you book, a price drop can sometimes only be captured by giving up those MNVV benefits, so the program is only as good as the First Mate managing it for you.

What Exactly Is the Virgin Voyages MNVV Program?

Think of the My Next Virgin Voyage (MNVV) program as Virgin Voyages’ way of rewarding current Sailors with the best possible value on a future cruise. It is designed to capture that onboard excitement and make committing to your next sailing easy and genuinely worthwhile.

The most important thing to understand: the most valuable version of the MNVV is only available while you are physically onboard (or through a special link provided during your sailing). Wait until you disembark and you forfeit a meaningful chunk of the value, more on that below.

Placeholder Power: Lock In Savings, Decide the Details Later

One of the smartest features of the MNVV is the placeholder option. Virgin knows you might be thrilled to sail again without having a specific date or itinerary in mind yet.

Instead of forcing a decision, you can buy an MNVV placeholder for a deposit of just $150 USD (or the equivalent in your booking currency). That deposit does two things:

  • It locks in the current onboard MNVV offer, both the voyage fare discount and the Sailor Loot.
  • It gives you two full years to choose your ship, sail date, and itinerary. Virgin is replacing this in fall 2026 with a one-year window to convert the placeholder into a booking, so confirm which window applies to your certificate.

This flexibility removes the pressure of committing on the spot while protecting your access to the best deal. The $150 placeholder bridges the gap between “I will definitely sail again” and “I know exactly when”, so you do not forget, miss out, or settle for a weaker offer later.

The Unbeatable Value: Why the Onboard MNVV Offer Reigns Supreme

So what makes the MNVV secured onboard so special? It simply delivers more value than anything available after you disembark. Here is the current onboard offer (for placeholders purchased since July 31, 2024):

You secure the offer with a $150 deposit, which is applied directly to your future voyage fare. The real magic is in the tiered benefits, which scale with the length of the future voyage you book:

Future Voyage LengthDeposit AppliedFare DiscountSailor Loot (OBC)Total Value
4–5 Nights$150$150$150$300
6–8 Nights$150$200$200$400
9+ Nights$150$250$250$500

Values shown in USD. Currency equivalents apply for other booking currencies.

The Power of Stacking Promotions

One of the biggest reasons the onboard MNVV is the best deal going is that it can be combined, or “stacked”, with most standard Virgin Voyages promotions. Those “percent off the second Sailor” deals and seasonal offers can often layer on top of your MNVV discount and Loot, multiplying your savings.

What Is Sailor Loot?

Sailor Loot is Virgin’s term for onboard credit, and it is wonderfully flexible. Spend it on premium drinks, specialty coffee and wine, Redemption Spa treatments, merchandise, Shore Things, a fresh tattoo at Squid Ink, and more. The Loot that comes with your MNVV adds real, tangible value on top of your fare discount.

The Onboard vs. Post-Voyage Trap: Do Not Wait

There is a “My Next Virgin Voyage Post-Voyage Offer” available for a short window, usually 14 days after you disembark. Here is the catch: while it also takes a $150 deposit and provides the same Sailor Loot tiers ($150 / $200 / $250), it does not include the voyage fare discount.

In other words, waiting until you get home can leave up to $250 in direct fare savings on the table. Securing your placeholder before you walk off the ship guarantees the full package, discount and credit.

Sailing soon and not sure how to play your MNVV?

The best value comes from securing the offer while you are onboard, and knowing exactly how to use it afterward.

The One MNVV “Catch” Most Agents Will Not Warn You About: Price Drops and Re-Rates

Here is where we step off the usual sales script. A lot of advisors pitch the MNVV with a promise that sounds airtight: “Book now, and if the price drops later, we will just re-rate it and you keep all your MNVV benefits.” That is only half true, and the half they leave out can quietly cost you $150, $200, or $250.

First, the genuinely good news: Virgin adjusts pricing constantly, and a First Mate who actually watches your booking can often re-rate it to capture a lower fare after you book. We do this for our Sailors all the time, and it saves real money.

Now the part that matters. A re-rate does not lower your number in a vacuum, it re-prices your entire booking against whatever promotion is live that day. Your MNVV fare discount and Sailor Loot only survive as long as that new, lower fare is still combinable with the MNVV offer. The moment a deeper drop is driven by a promotion that is not combinable with MNVV, Lock It In, Resident Rates, Casino offers, or a Best Price Guarantee claim, you face a choice: keep the higher price with your MNVV benefits, or take the lower price and forfeit the MNVV discount and matching Loot.

A Real-World Example

Say you book a Sea Terrace a year out. Three months later the price comes down, no problem, we re-rate it, you pocket the savings, and your MNVV benefits ride along untouched. Two months after that, it drops another $300. Here is the trap: if that new fare runs under a promotion that will not stack with MNVV, you can re-rate to grab the $300, but your MNVV discount and Sailor Loot ($150, $200, or $250) are gone. What looked like a $300 win can really be a $50 win once you net out what you gave up.

Even a “Clean” Re-Rate Can Quietly Swap Your Perks

There is a subtler version, too. Even when a re-rate keeps your MNVV intact, the promotion attached to the fare can shift underneath it. We have had sailings where re-rating swapped a $150 included Bar Tab for $100 in Sailor Loot. The booking still came out ahead overall, but it was not a clean, apples-to-apples “same perks, lower price” swap. Anyone who tells you a re-rate is always free money is not doing the math.

The CamJon Take: Re-Rate With a Calculator, Not a Reflex

None of this makes the MNVV a bad deal. It is still one of the best values in cruising, and we will keep recommending it. But it does mean the MNVV is only as good as the person managing it after you book. Our job is not to reflexively re-rate every time a number moves, it is to run the real comparison each time: keep-the-benefit versus take-the-drop, factoring in your fare discount, your Sailor Loot, any change to onboard credit, and your one-time date-change flexibility. Sometimes the right move is to grab the lower fare. Sometimes the right move is to leave the booking exactly where it is. Knowing the difference is the entire point of having a First Mate.

CamJon Fit Note

If you have already booked an MNVV sailing elsewhere and no one has explained any of this to you, that is a sign your booking is not being actively managed. We are always happy to take a look.

Put a Strategy Behind My Placeholder

How the MNVV Program Works: The Nitty-Gritty Details

Knowing the rules means you can use your MNVV smoothly and avoid surprises. Here is what matters most.

Eligible Cabins

The MNVV discount and Loot apply only to future bookings in Sea Terrace cabins or higher: The Sea Terrace, Central Sea Terrace, XL Sea Terrace, RockStar Quarters, and Mega RockStar Quarters. Insider, Sea View, Limited View Sea Terrace, and Slightly Smaller Sea Terrace cabins are not eligible.

The Lock It In Rate Exclusion (Important)

  • MNVV placeholders cannot be applied to a standard Sea Terrace Lock It In Rate (LII / GTY).
  • They can be applied to RockStar and Mega RockStar Lock It In bookings.
  • Lock It In rates are lower fares where Virgin assigns your cabin later, sometimes days before sailing, with real restrictions (no changes, no refunds, no cabin choice). For the full picture, read our guide on Virgin Voyages Lock It In Rates: Are the Savings Worth the Risk?

Validity, Flexibility & Refunds

  • You must book and sail within two years of buying the placeholder, or the $150 deposit is forfeited. This is changing in fall 2026 to a one-year window to convert the placeholder into a booking.
  • The deposit is fully refundable to your original payment method for seven days after purchase.
  • After seven days, if you cancel an unused placeholder, the $150 becomes a Future Voyage Credit (FVC) valid for one year, but the discount and Loot are forfeited.
  • Once applied to a voyage, standard Virgin cancellation policies apply. You may change your selected voyage date one time after applying the placeholder.

How to Purchase Onboard

  • Visit the Future Voyage Sales desk, typically on Deck 7 Midship.
  • Or use the link in the Virgin Voyages Sailor App or the onboard QR codes.
  • Use a personal credit or debit card in your own name, corporate cards are not accepted, and the cardholder must match the Sailor.

Combinability (Recap)

The MNVV stacks with most standard offers but generally cannot be combined with deeply discounted rates: Sea Terrace Lock It In, Resident Rates, Casino offers, Charters, First Mate rates, Interline rates, and similar. Only one MNVV applies per reservation.

CamJon Travel Pro Strategy: Why One MNVV Might Not Be Enough

Here is an insider move from your MNVV specialists: you can buy up to four (4) placeholders per Sailor during a single sailing. Why would you want more than one?

The Multi-Placeholder Advantage: Future-Proof Your Savings

Virgin has adjusted the MNVV’s value before. Buying multiple placeholders now, under today’s terms, locks in this deal structure for up to four future cruises, each with its own window. Even if Virgin devalues the offer for new buyers later, your placeholders keep the value they had when you bought them.

Smart Uses for Multiple MNVVs

  • Plan your next adventures: If you know you will be back for another Mediterranean or Caribbean sailing, locking in multiple MNVVs is the most financially sound move.
  • Important update on gifting: Placeholders purchased before August 6, 2026 were transferable one time to friends or family. Placeholders purchased on or after that date must stay with the Sailor who bought them, so buy only for voyages you expect to take yourself.

How to Move Your MNVV (or Booking) to CamJon Travel

To work with us on your booking and put your MNVV to work, the first step is moving the placeholder, or an existing booking made elsewhere, over to us. Once it is moved, we can see the placeholder, verify exactly what is attached to it, and make sure your sailing, fare, cabin, and benefits are all set up correctly. Here are your First Mate details and three easy ways to get there.

Your First Mate Details

First Mate: Cameron DeJong
Agency: Sava Travel / CamJon Travel
Agent email: cameron@camjontravel.com
Phone: 888-499-8728
IATA #: 34612830

Option 1, Assign it onboard (easiest): At the Future Voyage Sales desk, tell the Virgin Voyages crew you want your First Mate to be Cameron DeJong with Sava Travel / CamJon Travel, and share the agent email and IATA number above. They will link your placeholder to us from the start.

Option 2, Call Virgin Voyages Sailor Services: Already bought your placeholder, or have a booking made somewhere else? Call Sailor Services at 954-488-2955 or 1-800-430-5308 and ask them to move your MNVV placeholder (or booking) to your First Mate, Cameron DeJong, using the details above.

Option 3, Use Virgin’s booking-transfer form: Prefer not to call? Virgin has a quick online transfer form. Reach out to us and we will send you the current link and walk you through it.

Do This Before You Apply Your MNVV to a Sailing

Move the placeholder to CamJon Travel first. Once an MNVV is applied to a specific voyage on your own, it is harder to change course, getting us on it early means we can protect your benefits and run the re-rate math from day one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I buy the MNVV after I get home?

Only a weaker version. The full onboard MNVV, fare discount plus Sailor Loot, is available only while you are sailing. After disembarking you have 14 days to register for the post-voyage offer, which includes Sailor Loot but no fare discount.

How much is the MNVV actually worth?

Up to $500 in combined value: a $150–$250 fare discount plus matching $150–$250 Sailor Loot, scaling with the length of your future voyage, all secured with a single $150 deposit that applies to your fare.

If the price drops after I book, can I keep my MNVV benefits?

Sometimes. A re-rate re-prices your booking against whatever promotion is live that day. Your MNVV discount and Loot survive only if the new, lower fare is still combinable with the MNVV. When a deeper drop runs under a non-combinable promotion, you may have to choose between the lower price and your MNVV benefits, which is exactly why having a First Mate run the math matters.

Which cabins qualify for the MNVV?

Sea Terrace and higher: standard, Central, and XL Sea Terrace, plus all RockStar and Mega RockStar Quarters. Insider, Sea View, Limited View, and Slightly Smaller Sea Terrace cabins do not qualify.

How long do I have to use it?

Two years from purchase under the current rules: you must both book and sail within that window or the $150 deposit is forfeited. Virgin is replacing this in fall 2026 with a one-year window to convert the placeholder into a booking.

Can I transfer my MNVV to someone else?

Not for new purchases. Placeholders bought before August 6, 2026 could be transferred one time to another Sailor. Placeholders bought on or after August 6, 2026 cannot have the name changed and stay with the Sailor who bought them. Separately, your fare type controls who can be changed on the eventual booking: Premium lets you change the lead Sailor, Essential lets you change everyone except Sailor 1.

How do I move my MNVV or booking to CamJon Travel?

Two easy ways. Call Virgin Voyages Sailor Services (954-488-2955 or 1-800-430-5308) and ask them to move your MNVV placeholder or booking to your First Mate, Cameron DeJong (Sava Travel / CamJon Travel, cameron@camjontravel.com, IATA 34612830), or ask us for Virgin’s quick booking-transfer form. Move it before you apply the MNVV to a specific sailing so we can verify everything and protect your benefits.

Conclusion: Sail Smarter, Save More

The Virgin Voyages MNVV, especially secured onboard, is one of the best values in cruising: a real fare discount plus substantial onboard credit, locked in for just $150 and flexible for up to two years. Used well, it is hard to beat.

The fine print is where value is won or lost, the Lock It In exclusions, the onboard-vs-post-voyage gap, and the re-rate trap. That is exactly where a Gold Tier specialist earns their place. Buy onboard, grab extras if it fits your plans, and make sure your booking is linked to your First Mate, Cameron DeJong at Sava Travel / CamJon Travel (cameron@camjontravel.com, IATA 34612830).
