What is a Virgin Voyages Bar Tab?

A Virgin Voyages Bar Tab is not a traditional cruise drink package. Instead of unlimited drinks for a flat daily fee, you pre-load a set amount of drink credit before sailing. Virgin adds bonus credit on top (up to $250 on the $1,000 tier), and you spend that balance on cocktails, beer, wine, specialty coffee, and more anywhere onboard.

Tips are already included in every menu price — no extra 18–20% gratuity at checkout. If you are a light drinker (about 1–2 drinks a day), you can often skip the Bar Tab and pay as you go. Social and vacation drinkers usually come out ahead by pre-buying for the bonus.

You can buy through the Virgin Voyages app, My Account on virginvoyages.com, your travel agent, or by calling Sailor Services. Buying early locks in your bonus credit and keeps boarding day simple. Bonus tip: you can also cancel for a full refund up to 24 hours before departure, so there is very little risk in buying early.
Yes! Your bar tab works at ALL bars AND restaurants on the ship, including The Dock, Sip Lounge, On the Rocks, The Manor, and even room service drinks. One limit: it is for drinks consumed onboard (or at The Beach Club at Bimini) — it cannot be used for spa services, Shore Things, or bottles to take home.
Unused bar tab credit expires at the end of your voyage - it doesn't roll over, can't be redeemed for cash, and doesn't get refunded. That's why using this calculator is so important! Pro move if you're under: buy a round for new friends on the last night.
Sailing Club members get an enhanced bonus on the $300 Bar Tab for life: Sea-Blazers get a $125 bonus (turning $300 into $425) and Sea-Rovers get a $100 bonus (turning $300 into $400) — the best bonus percentages of any tier. Yes! Virgin doesn't require every sailor in a cabin to buy one. The Bar Tab sits on the purchasing sailor's account, but it can buy drinks for anyone — your cabin-mate, your group, or a new friend at the bar. That's a huge advantage if one of you drinks more than the other. You can also each purchase a tab and stack the bonuses.
Yes, and this is actually where it becomes essential! Unlike on the ship, alcohol is NOT included at The Beach Club at Bimini — only basic drinks like water, soda, and tea. Your Bar Tab credit works there, so plan accordingly if your itinerary includes Bimini. Our calculator has a Bimini toggle that factors this in.
Premium fares include a $15/sailor/night Bar Tab credit, which is a great head start. For a 7-night voyage with two sailors, that's $210 in credit.
