Getting there from MIA & FLL

From Miami International Airport (MIA)

• About 8–10 miles; typically 15–30 minutes depending on traffic.
• Taxi / rideshare: often the simplest; fares are market estimates (confirm live).
• Shared shuttles: pre-booked options exist; price and timing vary.
• Private car: higher cost, door-to-door.
• Public transit: possible but usually awkward with luggage.

From Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL)

• Longer haul (~27–30 miles); often 45–60+ minutes — plan buffer.
• Rideshare costs more than from MIA; shared shuttles can be the budget play if pre-booked.
• Brightline (FLL area → MiamiCentral → rideshare to Terminal V) is a multi-step option some Sailors like.

What the terminal feels like

Designed by Arquitectonica, the LEED Gold-certified Terminal V leans into Miami palm-grove architecture — canopy roof, glass, light, and a boutique-hotel vibe instead of sterile boarding pens. Expect lounge-style seating, Virgin red accents, and art (including LED screens).

If you arrive significantly before your assigned Terminal Arrival Time, you may wait outside with limited seating/shelter. Once inside on your slot, the flow usually matches the ship’s energy.

Which ships sail from Terminal V?

Terminal V is Virgin Voyages’ dedicated Miami homeport for Caribbean itineraries. Which Lady is there on your dates rotates — confirm the live sailing:

• Scarlet Lady — often shorter Caribbean patterns when based in Miami.
• Valiant Lady — frequently longer Caribbean routes in seasons she’s there.
• Resilient Lady — diverse Caribbean routings when Miami-based.
• Brilliant Lady — calls Terminal V for announced Miami Caribbean seasons (then may rotate to other regions).

Virgin aims for a smooth shore-to-ship flow. Your app Terminal Arrival Time is the rule; clock times below are operational approximates Sailors hear on the ground — not a promise that overrides your slot.

Embarkation checklist

1. Complete Ready to Sail in the Virgin Voyages app and select a Terminal Arrival Time.
2. Luggage drop-off begins at 9am (official). Curbside porters do not work for Virgin Voyages. At Terminal V and other ports, $1–$2 per bag is the standard tip if you use them.
3. Arrive on your slot (not dramatically early unless you have priority access).
4. Enter the correct lane: General, Priority, or RockStar Palm Way.
5. Documents → wearable Band → security screening → lounge/wait as needed → board.

Typical boarding sequence (approximate)

• RockStar / Mega RockStar: check-in anytime after 1pm (Palm Way). Some Sailors see early boarding around ~1:30–1:45pm — treat that as approximate, not official.
• Priority (e.g., Deep Blue Extras / Splash of Romance where applicable): often after RockStar, roughly ~1:45pm onward in practice.
• General boarding: commonly ~2:15pm onward by Arrival Time slots.

Cabins are often ready on arrival; complete the safety briefing via cabin TV or app, then explore.

Disembarkation (approximate)

• Self-assist with your own bags can start early morning (~7:30am is a common operational approximate).
• Tagged bags left overnight are typically available in the terminal later morning (~8:30am onward by group) — confirm onboard instructions.
• Select a disembarkation preference in the app when offered; plan to be off by late morning (~10:45am is a common “all ashore” approximate).
• US/Canadian passport holders often move quickly via facial recognition customs when available.
