The Best Restaurants on Virgin Voyages: A Definitive Ranking Based on Real Sailor Feedback

📅 This blog was last updated on January 27, 2026 with: Current dining hours across the fleet, Lucky Lotus details for Scarlet Lady, Rojo information for Brilliant Lady, VoyageFair Choices booking window impacts, verified menu items, and fresh sailor feedback from late 2025 and early 2026 voyages.

Why This Ranking Is Different

Virgin Voyages promotes “20+ eateries” but doesn’t tell you which ones are worth a coveted 7pm reservation and which are better as walk-ups. Most online guides are written by influencers after a single comped sailing.

At CamJon Travel, we do things differently. As a Top 100 First Mate in North America for 2025 and a Virgin Voyages specialist since 2019, I’ve sailed the fleet multiple times and—more importantly—I follow up with every client after their voyage. We ask what they loved, what surprised them, and where they’d eat again.

This 2026 ranking reflects that real-world feedback combined with firsthand experience—not marketing copy or sponsored content. It’s the guide I wish existed when I booked my first Virgin Voyages sailing.

Here’s the important context before we dive in: all specialty dining is included in your fare. Even the “lower ranked” restaurants are excellent by cruise industry standards. This guide is about optimization—helping you get the most out of your dining reservations—not about avoiding bad food. There is no bad food on Virgin Voyages.

How Dining Works on Virgin Voyages

Before we rank the restaurants, let’s clarify the structure. Virgin Voyages doesn’t have a traditional main dining room or buffet. Instead, you have:

  • Brunch (8am – 1pm): The Wake and Razzle Dazzle offer sit-down brunch service with reservations available
  • Dinner (5:30/5:45pm – 10pm): All six specialty restaurants open for dinner, reservations recommended
  • The Galley (24/7): Your lunch spot and late-night destination—food hall style with multiple stations, no reservations needed
  • Casual spots: Pizza Place, Dock House, Diner & Dash, and other grab-and-go options throughout the ship

There is no lunch service at specialty restaurants. The Galley is where you eat lunch. This catches some first-time sailors off guard, so plan accordingly.

Virgin Voyages Restaurant Tier Ranking Infographic 2026: Tier 1 Book First includes Pink Agave, The Wake, Extra Virgin, Test Kitchen; Tier 2 Excellent and Easier to Get includes Razzle Dazzle, Gunbae, The Dock House; Tier 3 Lunch and Anytime includes The Galley, Pizza Place, and casual dining spots

The Rankings: Tier 1 — Book These First

These are the restaurants that consistently generate the most enthusiastic feedback. If you only pre-book a few dinners, make sure these are on your list.

#1 — Pink Agave

Cuisine: Upscale Mexican with regional influences
When: Dinner only (5:30/5:45pm – 10pm)
Vibe: Moody lighting, intimate booths, shareable plates, exceptional cocktails

Pink Agave is consistently the most-mentioned favorite in post-voyage feedback. Sailors don’t just say it was good—they say they wish they’d booked it twice.

My recommendation: The guacamole is absolutely amazing. I’ve lived in areas with great authentic Mexican food, but Pink Agave is right up there. It’s prepared tableside with pomegranate seeds, jalapeño, and fresh totopos. Order it to start, then work your way through the small and medium plates family-style.

Pro tip: Book Pink Agave for a sea day. On port days, people return exhausted from excursions and often skip dinner reservations. On sea days, everyone wants Pink Agave at 7pm—competition is fierce.

#2 — The Wake

Cuisine: Classic steakhouse with seafood
When: Brunch (8am – 1pm) AND Dinner (5:30/5:45pm – 10pm)
Vibe: Glamorous 1950s supper club, panoramic stern views, celebratory energy

The Wake is Virgin’s answer to the traditional cruise steakhouse, but elevated. The floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the ship’s wake create an atmosphere that’s perfect for anniversaries, final-night dinners, or any occasion worth celebrating.

My recommendation: You can’t go wrong with any of the steaks—the Hanger Steak, Filet Mignon, and New York Strip are all excellent. The cuts are quality and the preparation is consistent.

Honest take: A small number of sailors have reported inconsistent steak temperatures. If yours arrives over or underdone, send it back immediately—the kitchen will make it right.

Pro tip: Book dinner for sunset on a sea day. The views are spectacular. And don’t overlook brunch here—the Bottomless Brunch add-on ($35) for unlimited mimosas and Bloody Marys is worth considering.

#3 — Extra Virgin

Cuisine: Italian trattoria with fresh pasta and regional dishes
When: Dinner only (5:30/5:45pm – 10pm)
Vibe: Warm, convivial, neighborhood restaurant feel

Extra Virgin delivers exactly what you want from Italian dining: fresh pasta, quality ingredients, and an atmosphere that makes you want to linger over wine and conversation. Sailors consistently praise it for reliability and comfort-food appeal.

My recommendation: The Braised Mini Meatballs are so good I order two orders of them. They come with smoked mozzarella, tomato, and pancetta—don’t share these. The Porcini-Rubbed New York Strip and Grilled Mediterranean Sea Bass are both amazing main courses. And don’t forget the dessert cart after—the tableside affogato is a must.

#4 — Test Kitchen

Cuisine: Multi-course tasting menu, culinary experimentation
When: Dinner only (5:30/5:45pm – 10pm)
Vibe: Laboratory-inspired, immersive, theatrical

Test Kitchen is for foodies who want an experience, not just a meal. The multi-course tasting menu features innovative techniques and unexpected flavor combinations. It’s unlike anything else at sea.

Who it’s for: Adventurous eaters who appreciate culinary creativity and don’t mind being surprised.

Heads up: Plan for 2+ hours minimum. Do NOT book Test Kitchen before a show—you’ll either rush through the experience or miss your reservation at The Red Room.

The Rankings: Tier 2 — Excellent, Easier to Get

These restaurants are strong choices that typically have more availability. They’re not “lesser” options—they just don’t have the same reservation pressure as Tier 1.

#5 — Razzle Dazzle

Cuisine: Vegetarian-forward American comfort food with playful twists
When: Brunch (8am – 1pm) AND Dinner (5:30/5:45pm – 10pm)
Vibe: Bold black-and-white optical illusion décor, energetic, fun

Here’s the honest truth about Razzle Dazzle: the dinner menu is polarizing. Some sailors love the vegetarian-forward concept; others find it underwhelming compared to the other specialty restaurants. But brunch? Universally beloved.

Pro tip: Prioritize brunch here. The menu shines in the morning with creative takes on classics. Dinner is fine, but your reservation slots are better spent at Pink Agave or The Wake.

Important ship variations:

  • Scarlet Lady: Lucky Lotus replaces the standard Razzle Dazzle dinner menu with Chinese-inspired cuisine. Brunch is still classic Razzle Dazzle.
  • Brilliant Lady: Rojo by Razzle Dazzle offers Spanish-inspired tapas and shareable plates instead.
  • Valiant Lady & Resilient Lady: Standard Razzle Dazzle for both brunch and dinner.

#6 — Gunbae

Cuisine: Korean BBQ with tableside grilling
When: Dinner only (5:30/5:45pm – 10pm)
Vibe: Communal, interactive, social, soju bombs

Gunbae is the only restaurant on Virgin Voyages where you’ll be seated with other sailors. You cook your own meats and vegetables on the built-in grill at your table while the host guides the experience with banchan (side dishes) and spirited toasts.

Best for: Groups, friend trips, and anyone who wants to meet other sailors. This is a fantastic first-night choice because it’s an instant icebreaker.

Not ideal for: Couples wanting quiet romance. The communal seating and interactive format aren’t designed for intimate conversation.

Plan for: 90 minutes minimum. Don’t rush this one.

#7 — The Dock House

Cuisine: Mediterranean mezze, flame-grilled skewers, small plates
When: Open for casual dining throughout the day and evening
Vibe: Laid-back outdoor seating at the aft, relaxed lounge atmosphere

The Dock House isn’t a “destination dining” experience like Pink Agave or The Wake—it’s more of a relaxed hangout with good food. The Mediterranean-inspired menu works well for a casual dinner when you don’t want the formality of a specialty restaurant.

Best for: Warm evenings when you want to eat outside with drinks and wake views.

The Rankings: Tier 3 — Your Lunch & Anytime Spots

No reservations needed. These are your go-to options for lunch, late-night cravings, and casual bites throughout the voyage.

The Galley

This is Virgin’s elevated food hall—multiple stations, made-to-order dishes, no buffet lines. Open 24/7, it’s where you’ll eat lunch and where you’ll end up at 1am after dancing at The Manor.

Sailor feedback consistently mentions the “relaxed atmosphere” here. Highlights include:

  • Let’s Taco Bout It: The breakfast burritos are legendary
  • Bento Baby: Fresh sushi rolls
  • Diner & Dash: American classics, 24/7 breakfast
  • Noodle Around: Ramen and miso

Other Casual Winners

  • Pizza Place: Made-to-order pies, perfect for poolside lunch or late-night snacks
  • Lick Me Till Ice Cream: Hand-scooped ice cream with rotating flavors
  • Sun Club Café: Hidden gem on Deck 16 with Hawaiian-Asian fusion—many sailors don’t discover it until mid-voyage

Dining Reservation Strategy

Getting the restaurants you want at the times you want requires strategy—especially under the new VoyageFair Choices fare system.

The Booking Windows

Your fare type determines when you can book dining reservations:

Fare Type / CabinBooking Window
RockStar / Mega RockStar120 days before sailing
Premium60 days before sailing
Essential45 days before sailing
Base15 days before sailing

VoyageFair Choices Dining Reservation Timeline 2026: RockStar books at 120 days, Premium at 60 days marked as sweet spot for availability, Essential at 45 days, Base at 15 days when popular times are often gone

Why this matters: By the time the 15-day window opens for Base fare sailors, prime dinner slots at Pink Agave and The Wake are often gone. Even Essential fare sailors at 45 days can find popular times picked over on high-demand sailings. Sailors end up with 5:30pm or 9:30pm reservations—not ideal if you wanted sunset at The Wake or a 7pm dinner before a show.

This is one of the biggest reasons we recommend Premium fare for most travelers. The 60-day dining window can significantly improve your onboard experience—and the other Premium perks often make it worth the upgrade. Learn more in our breakdown of why Premium fare pays off.

Reservation Limits by Voyage Length

  • 1-5 nights: One dinner reservation per restaurant
  • 6-8 nights: Two per restaurant
  • 9+ nights: Three per restaurant
  • Brunch reservations don’t count toward your limits

Practical Tips

  • Book Pink Agave and The Wake first—they have the highest demand
  • Check the app daily once onboard—cancellations open up prime slots regularly
  • Walk-ups are possible but risky for prime times at popular restaurants
  • Reservations open at midnight Miami time—be ready when your window opens

What Sailors Wish They Knew

Based on post-voyage feedback, here’s what consistently surprises first-time Virgin Voyages sailors about dining in 2026:

Sailor feedback quote card: Dining IS the entertainment - real post-voyage feedback from Virgin Voyages sailors collected by CamJon Travel

“Dining IS the entertainment.” Several sailors rated traditional shows lower than expected but raved about the food. If the entertainment doesn’t blow you away, don’t worry—your best nights might be a long dinner at Pink Agave followed by drinks at The Manor. Lean into the dining experience.

“Don’t over-schedule.” Some sailors book every night tightly and regret it. Leave room for spontaneity. You’ll discover spots you didn’t plan for, and sometimes The Galley at midnight hits perfectly.

“Sea days = prime reservation competition.” Everyone wants the best tables on sea days. If you’re flexible, consider booking your top-choice restaurants for port days when others are tired from excursions.

“Brunch is underrated.” The Wake and Razzle Dazzle brunch don’t require the same advance planning as dinner, and sailors consistently love them. Build at least one brunch into your voyage.

The Bottom Line for 2026

Every restaurant on Virgin Voyages is included and excellent by cruise industry standards. The food quality across the fleet consistently generates comments like “never had food like this on a cruise” and “the food was amazing compared to previous cruises.”

But if you want to maximize the experience in 2026, strategy matters—especially with the VoyageFair Choices booking windows creating tiered access to reservations.

Book Pink Agave and The Wake first. Don’t sleep on brunch. Save The Galley for lunch and late nights. And remember: the best dining experiences come from matching the restaurant to the moment, not just checking boxes.

Virgin Voyages Dining Cheat Sheet 2026: Brunch at The Wake and Razzle Dazzle 8am to 1pm, Dinner at all specialty restaurants 5:30pm to 10pm, Lunch anytime at The Galley 24/7, Book Pink Agave and The Wake first, check app daily for cancellations

Based on post-voyage sailor feedback collected throughout 2025 and into 2026, Pink Agave consistently ranks as the top restaurant on Virgin Voyages. Sailors praise the upscale Mexican cuisine, tableside guacamole, exceptional cocktails, and intimate atmosphere. It’s the restaurant most sailors say they wish they’d booked twice.

Are Virgin Voyages restaurants really included in the fare?

Yes—all specialty dining on Virgin Voyages is included in your cruise fare with no additional charge. This includes Pink Agave, The Wake, Extra Virgin, Test Kitchen, Razzle Dazzle, Gunbae, and The Galley. The only dining upcharges are optional add-ons like the Bottomless Brunch ($35) at The Wake.

Do you need reservations for Virgin Voyages restaurants?

Reservations are strongly recommended for dinner at specialty restaurants, especially Pink Agave and The Wake. The Galley operates 24/7 without reservations. Your booking window depends on your fare type—Premium fare opens at 60 days, which typically provides the best availability for popular time slots.
