It happens. We go on a trip somewhere and end up forgetting something that we either blanked out on or didn’t realize was important before we arrived at our destination. We have done it ourselves many times, but have gotten pretty good over the years at knowing what is important to take on vacation.
The purpose of this blog entry is to show just a few items that we purchased, loved, and take with us to Curacao and on other trips. We hope that you find this list helpful for your next trip.
Downy Wrinkle Releaser – Travel Size
Not only do we keep the full size bottles of this at home to remove wrinkles from our clothes, but we always ensure that we are stocked up on the travel size. These are easier to carry, but we would recommend that you take at least one bottle for every 2-3 days of your trip as it does get used up pretty quickly. So for a seven day trip, take three bottles. I have gone through a number of “generic” chargers at work and in travel. I have landed on Anker as being a great brand. Wildhorn Topside Snorkel Fins
One of the many reasons people end up not snorkeling is because if the fins. They can be difficult to put on and even more challenging to walk in. These fins from Wildhorn solve most of those problems with great comfort on land and in the water.

Portable Pill Case for Medication
If you need to take one or two vitamins or other medications a day, this case has proven to be small yet effective for me. Even better is that it stays securely closed in my carry-on bag. I have had other pill and medicine holders that have opened up while in transit, which is far from ideal. This one by Bidear has worked well for me and I continue to use it.
While I have never had any agent ask me for the original bottles or any prescription information for medications I have taken across borders, there are many who believe it is a best practice to take documentation with you. Colgate Max Fresh Wisp Travel Toothbrushes
I always pack my regular toothbrush and toothpaste in my checked luggage. Yes, I’m a big time checked luggage guy. I have never liked putting things overhead if I don’t have to. Sometimes I have regretted not keeping some things in my carry-on backpack (see below as it is my FAVORITE backpack ever for travel). The good compromise for me are the wisp disposable toothbrushes.
They are so small and seem like they will do nothing for you, but they WORK. I found myself brushing at my seat on longer flights. I’d do this when my seatmate had taken a walk. 🙂 Even better was being able to run into a bathroom in the airport and quickly use one.

Timbuk2 Uptown Laptop Travel-Friendly Backpack
There are so many options for backpacks out there. I am embarrassed to admit that I have tried many – kept many – and returned few. (I’m terrible about returning items) The one that has lasted the longest and feels as good as new is also the one that is the most functional for all of the items (mini toothbrushes, phone charger, keys, and so much more) I take in my carry-on bag.
